Before exploring some far reaches of the world with the kids, I wanted to bring them closer to their own roots. That meant starting the trip in Canada and Wales. I’m Canadian and both Justin and I have family history in Wales. For the Canadian leg of the trip, I wanted to explore somewhere new to all of us. Hello Newfoundland! But it almost didn’t happen. Flying to Wales from SLC via Newfoundland is above all impractical. And my practical roots run deep. OK, “so let’s go via NYC instead” I thought. So many reasons to show the kids New York City. Thanks goodness Justin asked “does it matter if it’s impractical” or something along those lines, because here we are in Newfoundland.
