Welsh Flurry

On our last morning in Wales I got up at 6am to cram in the rest of my activity wish list before the family woke up. I’m a quasi-reformed over-achiever so this is not really surprising. Like many things in life, my goal orientation is a strength and a liability. Sometimes I need to slow down and focus on “being” and not “doing”. But, this morning I chose not to rest. Thank goodness because had I rested I would have missed the most glorious sunlight of the day on Bird Rock. I would have missed exploring the Welsh coast tidepools. I would have missed a second visit to the family cottage and a final visit to my father’s grave, to lay flowers picked from the cottage. I was in non-stop motion for 2+hours. It was glorious. As much as I’m a big believer in life-long learning and growth, and self-improvement, I think it’s important to recognize we are at the same time “good enough” as we are. More than “good enough”, we are glorious as we are. All our strengths, liabilities, quirks and more.

It was dark, cloudy and rainy before and after these walks. But when I was on foot I was treated to the glory that is Wales. Goodbye old friend until we’re together again.

More Welsh Scenes:

Parting shot. It looked this amazing in real life.
