We had an absolutely lovely visit with two of my friends from business school that got married and have four kids!! Remarkably all their kids were home so it was a full-on visit. They live in Marlow, England, an hour north of London. One thing that really struck me was Hazel’s extraordinary and near instant comfort among this boisterous older crew. She was the fun and funny goofball that she can be when the universe feels safe. I remember those experiences … walking into the home of your parents’ friends in a faraway country. It can be a bit daunting, especially for Hazel who feels the world deeply. Anyhoo, I think her energy reflected how we all felt … being with the Ormonds was amazing and felt like home ❤️ We packed a lot into a short visit: We went for a country walk. We had a pub lunch. OMG it was delicious. Justin cooked dinner one night with their youngest kiddo. Many workouts happened. I swam with Hazel a few times. Justin and Henry went for a bike ride. I learned the term MAMIL (middle aged men in Lycra). Will went to a coffee shop in Marlow. It was a great time!!
Friends that have known you for 20+ years are like gold really.
