M-m-m-m-my Girona

We came to Girona for a long weekend. Justin raced in Sea Otter Europe. Gave me flashbacks to racing the OG Sea Otter 20 years ago in CA with my beloved and whimsical bike team, Velo Bella. We stayed in the heart of old town amid cobbled roads and super narrow streets. Our Airbnb rocked. Catalan + Moroccan + Modern + Stone vibes. It was a cool sanctuary. We had our own tiny balcony. We walked, biked, ate, shopped, played. We lasted less than 10 minutes visiting the cathedral, which was awe-inspiring and spooky. Girona was lively, Catalan, historical, not busy but not quiet either.

Hazel and I visited a few playgrounds and played in some big letters. She does incredible pouty faces. I call her my theatre kid (that does no theatre, at least not yet?).

A river separates old town from new town. Many bridges cross it. One of them was designed by Mr. Eiffel. Yes, he did a tower too.

Justin had a racing friend in town from the Bay Area. As they headed off to pre-ride some of the course, Hazel shouted “Have fun on your play date”. She is a cheeky one.

We had a super neat sushi dinner. Will has been craving el sushi. We also had a legit Catalan outdoor dinner after a family sunset walk. Justin and I had a great bike date, riding for a few hours in rolling hills outside of Girona. We passed forests, farmland and the occasional ancient beautiful building. It was quiet. We had a really great few days and soaked up Girona in all her glory.
