Lovely routines and habits are emerging in our quiet Western Australian life. I just got back from a 20 min walk to the general store to buy eggs and bread. Watched the sunset on my return. Walking to get stuff done is a beloved new (to me) habit from Cerdanya. It slows life down. Our busy lives. Live Simply. Our time here is certainly a time to practice.

Here are some scenes from other sunset walks. It really is so idyllic. Did I mention this stretch of coast has absolutely no shoreline development? Mother Earth in her original glory. With one exception, a lovely cafe tucked in a cove at the end of our home beach :)
Hazel and I are regular ocean swimmers. It’s just a few minutes walk from the house. It is so fun to watch her glee in the water. We’re regular pool swimmers too. We joined the local rec center which has a superb cafe. Long live coffee after swimming. Served in a mug!! Go rec center. A young French couple run the cafe. Living their best life no doubt.

We drove down to Redgate beach one day. Just another slice of paradise.
Will solo hiked 123 km down the coast on the Cape to Cape Track over 6 days. Planned the whole thing solo :) Our major contribution was drop off and pick up :) So amazing. Lots of sandy beach walking and sandy trails too. Rough baby toe blisters emerged on day 3. Rained nights 1 and 5. Despite an impressive effort to rent an ultralight tent and personal locator beacon, Will ended up with a super cheap-o-not-freestanding one person tent! At least we found something on our Hail Mary shopping trip after the rental co shipped duds :( Honestly I thought it would be a goner in rain but I was wrong. Will took a sleeping liner and cold soaked his dinners. No sleeping bag! No stove! Legit ultralight. I already knew Will is a very competent backcountry travel but it was neat to see him be so unflappable in the face of challenges. We’re all so proud.

This is officially our ‘home break’ aka Grunters. Minutes from home.

And this is looking south from Grunters towards Gas Bay and beyond.
