Bye Bye WA

The sun has set on our time in Western Australia. I shared a goodbye and thank you message with the Red Rockers. Someone recorded it, so here’s the video. I love the word awe. It’s rare and often fleeting, but so profound. A Berkeley psychology professor, Dacher Keltner, wrote a book about it. He identified eight main types of awe and one of them is ‘collective effervesence’ (uhh, cool term). It’s about a feeling in groups when egos dissolve and collective joy emerges. The term actually came from a French sociologist, Emile Durkheim. Anyway, all this was put on my radar the day I was listening to Chip Conley on the Rich Roll podcast while driving to the swim and I thought “oh heck yeah, I’m getting a daily dose of collective effervesence!!!”. What a cool experience to be part of this daily dose of awe. Perks of slow travel without agendas, a little curiosity and some luck.

Photos from a Yallingup evening trail run … heart is full. Onwards.
