Bicicleta

I’ve loved biking for a long time. Mountain biking was one of my first great loves. I love riding with friends. I love riding solo. I love riding to explore new places. It’s such a great slow ‘intimate’ way of becoming familiar with a new region. Justin brought his bike and gear to Catalonia. He’s training for a big race in Germany at the end of November. What a magical place to train. I won the lottery of life and have access to two bikes here that fit me: mountain and gravel. Three if you include the townie bike. Bikes for the kids too.

Some early observations of riding around here:

Roads and trails are quiet and divine. Might be busier in August, but September is chill to the max. When no is in a rush, no one is in a rush to pass you. I’ve had farmers, carrying huge loads of hay, slow to a stop and pull their tractors almost into the ditch to give me tons of space to go by. I honestly wondered if it was chilvary but Justin says he’s treated the same!!

The views are endless and gorgeous and divine. We live in a valley surrounded on all sides by mountains. They are sprinkled with roads everywhere. The landscape is dotted with little and littler villages that are so quaint, so charming, and so full of old stone buildings.

“It is the candyland of biking”, says the lady dressed like pink bubblegum.

And - speaking of bicycles, have I mentioned Hazel’s love of the pump track? Nothing like riding the pump track in your pajamas (middle photo). It’s a good life.
