We’ve been to three countries in three days. Just sort of happened. It is the reality of where we’re living. The Pyrennees straddle Spain and France. Andorra is a tiny country smack in the middle of the Pyrennees and we live near it. Two days ago we were grocery shopping in France. Today we went to Andorra to see the World Mountain Bike Championships. Big Race. Big Deal. Very cool to be there “without much effort”. Of course it’s been a lot of effort to get here :) but less than 48 hours ago I didn’t even know the race was happening. Just kind of showed up and saw all the best dirt racers in the world. Cool beans.
Justin’s friend Jason described Andorra as a cross between Vail and Vegas. So true. It’s staggeringly mountainous. Steep hillsides everywhere. Apparently a bunch of pro (and ex-pro) cyclists live here. It’s bike AND ski country. And it’s Tax free. So there are towns built for mega shopping with equally staggeringly tall buildings. Oddly sturdy too. Industrial vibe in the bigger towns. Snowbird-esque. Euro vibe in the small towns that clutch the hillsides. Anyhoo, an hour drive from our medieval digs and a world away. We went to a cafe in a lovely quiet Andorran town called Ordino. Everything is slow in the most wonderful way. Their slowness slows you down. Bring on this soul food. In other news I snapped the first husband-wife selfie of the trip. Looking forward to many more, ha ha.

Other scenes in Andorra, including just casually driving by the world’s new mountain bike champion - who was biking through town with a backpack on :) it’s the rider in front with his new rainbow stripes jersey (last photo, lower right):
School starts tomorrow. Hmm. Well, I should clarify that Will has been getting after it for weeks. School starts tomorrow for Hazel with Teacher Mom.
