A trip around the world with the kids has been a long time coming. A twinkle in my eyes since when I traveled and lived abroad as a “kid” myself in my 20’s. Leading up to it we talked a lot about what mattered to each of us. Talked about our dreams and where we wanted to go. Involved the kids in creating an itinerary which is still partially baked. In early June we went for a family walk on the beloved trails out our back door. We each answered four questions: What are your hopes? What are your fears? What do you ask from everyone? What do you promise everyone? Honestly I was stunned at how much everyone put on the table. One conclusion for sure is we each know our quirks and our needs :) and our aspirations for being better versions of ourselves. I’ve adopted a mantra lately that this is not a vacation, it’s life. It will be us living our lives in other places. And with that, all the joys and highs and lows of life will be part of it. We’ll navigate it all together, literally and metaphorically!!
